There’s a new video from Ford – not yet official – but hot on the heels, since the official reveal of the new hot hatch is due on February 24th – this Friday.
The classic performance iteration of the ubiquitous Fiesta is going to reach its intended markets starting next year, but will most likely have its official public premiere in front of the worldwide audience attending the Geneva Motor Show. As far as we can tell from the teaser, the new Fiesta ST is not overly dramatic, taking numerous cues from the new generation and coming with some extra aero kit, new alloy designs and a bigger rear wing. The video is also depicting the Fiesta ST in five-door guise, thus confirming the FWD mini hot hatch will follow the worldwide trend of having the performance vehicle as a five-door as well.
The outgoing Fiesta ST is making use of a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, but the rumor mill thinks the new one will switch to a smaller but more efficient 1.5-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder unit that was premiered alongside the new generation. This will bring better power than the current 200 hp, hopefully – as the Fiesta has to contend with new entries in the segment – such as the Yaris GRMN.
