We already knew the Honda Civic Type R in production guise was going to grace the Geneva Motor Show, but it’s even better because we now have leaked official pictures with it.
As far as we can tell, we have no idea why Honda showed last year the Type R prototype – since these two look exactly the same. The only differences are the blocked air intakes and the less “shiny” taillights. More so, the car has unfortunately lost all that gorgeous but expensive carbon fiber – so no light splitters and spoilers – though it did keep the hood air intake. The two leaked images don’t depict the sides, but certainly reveal the fact that it’s going to Geneva.
Honda has been mum on the powertrain department, with rumors screaming about a CVT or dual-clutch auto gearbox making an appearance, with the mill also claiming the 2.0-liter turbo will have 310 horsepower. The car is going to be faster – it has a stiffer body, which is also a little lighter. Production will naturally take place at the Swindon facility in the United Kingdom, and after the Geneva Motor Show premiere it will become a global asset – sold from there in the United States and Japan as well.
