There have been numerous reports about the upcoming arrival of the Nissan Terra – considered a spiritual successor of the Xterra – a new SUV coming from the Japanese automaker via the Navara pick-up truck platform.
A host of images has been allegedly taken with the 2018 Nissan Terra somewhere in China, and without any camouflage whatsoever there’s nothing left for the imagination – additionally, if this is the real deal we fully expect a hastened reveal in the coming days. The Terra is essentially the NP300 Navara derived as a passenger-friendly sport utility vehicle, looking both stylish and capable thanks to its rugged body-on-frame construction. It naturally sports the latest Nissan SUV design language, with a major emphasis on the V-Motion grille – other new characteristics include the angular headlights, bulging fender flares, and lots of chrome trim.
The rear is – of course – a stark departure from the Navara, featuring a unique greenhouse at the back, with a small hump, as well as wraparound taillights. There are very few details about the new SUV, but according to reports it’s going to feature under the hood a few options – 2.5-liter petrol engine good for 184 hp (137 kW), probably the sole offering in China, with other markets also getting the 2.3-liter dCi turbodiesel engine that has either 158 hp (118 kW) or 187 hp (140 kW). The official public reveal is expected to take place during the upcoming 2018 Beijing Motor Show.
