Remember we told you about a report putting the RS3 Sedan into motion for North America. Well, it’s not only true but we also have an actual shot of the car – shown by Audi of America, even though the automaker then tried its best to hide its trail.
The RS3 Sedan has been a bit of a confusing story for starters – as some Internet venues mistakenly took it for an RS4 Sedan. We’re now sure it’s the RS3 Sedan and the confusion was understandable due to the fact that it comes with a midlife refresher that sets it a bit apart from the Audi A3 Sedan. But that’s not unexpected – think about the S1 and A1, it was the same story. The radiator grille on the RS 3 Sedan is now more pronounced towards the hexagonal shape and the front bumper looks edgier, while the silver spoiler down under is connected to the side air intakes, a feature inspired from the RS7. We can see the profile is very close to the hatch version and we have the same silver mirrors and the optional 21-inch alloy wheels – and the chrome can also be blacked out if you want to.
And those new headlights with an extra edge at the bottom will be available most likely to the entire A3 family once the facelift is out – we’re betting for a March reveal during the Geneva Motor Show. We can also see how the pricing will go up as the Ingolstadt-based automaker is adding the Matrix LED headlights and the Virtual Cockpit digital dashboard. The 2.5-liter turbo is expected to come up with about 400 horsepower, as a way to boost owner confidence.
