The Beijing Motor Show is fast approaching and we have been treated to an early leak of a model that will feature in a world premiere during the event – Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation’s (BAIC) supercar.
We can see BAIC is looking to steal the spotlight with its supercar concept but that idea might have been trumped by the early leak on the internet. The unnamed prototype looks stylish and seems to borrow design cues from both the recent crop of McLaren models but also from the greenish BMW i8 plug in hybrid sports car. Anyways we’re treated to an aggressive design that will surely be noticed by everyone present at the Beijing Motor Show – without full scoop on the details we can only comment for now on the leaked pictures. These depict a sporty front end, a ventilated bonnet, beefy side skirts – while there’s also a rakish windscreen, lightweight wheels, and cool scissor doors with flush-mounted handles. Other amenities include a sleek roofline, sporty taillights and a smallish rear spoiler.
From reports coming via China, the concept appears to be packing a green all electric powertrain that will have supercar credentials: the sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) will only last three seconds and the top speed stands at 162 mph. The performance specifications will take a toll on the battery pack which is rumored to have enough juice for up to 186 miles on a single charge.
