After “millions” of teasers, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is here… only it’s not officially here, as we’re again faced with a classic case of internet leak ahead of public reveal.
We’re not going to wait long to see if the image is the real thing – though with all the online hype surrounding it we pretty much doubt it’s a fake. That’s because the official worldwide public introduction of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – the new flagship version of the all mighty muscle car – is coming live at the 2017 New York Auto Show. But besides the actual image we still have to rely on the endless string of teasers the company has provided us with – including some Easter Eggs (like 757, possibly the number of horsepower), which actually give us a pretty crystal clear view of what’s in store for the fans and upcoming buyers.
We already know the Demon is mostly geared towards drag racing strip enthusiasts (which is no wonder, since the Challenger on itself lacks the cornering capabilities of the Mustang or sixth generation Camaro). So, it can naturally run on racing fuel, use the air conditioning system to cool the engine some more, or even come with an official tool crate. It’s also getting some industry firsts – world’s first factory transbrake, or the biggest functional hood scoop on a production car. It’s also going to be extremely fast – alongside with the power bump comes a strict diet that enabled some weight loss.
