Mercedes-Benz just started the campaign for its new generation W464 G-Class, but already we’re being presented with the opportunity to check out the first leaks…
This initial low-resolution leak might not be something to write home about, but it could very well be the real deal since it’s allegedly coming from a special media event preview organized in Germany and depicting the new generation’s most important interior element – the dashboard. It seems the G-Class is going to combine some elements from other models in the family – the silvery steering wheel seems directly taken from the S Class, while the air vents look inspired by the E-Class Coupe and E-Class Cabriolet. The passenger side even holds a grab handle – for passenger off-road… grabbing the handle.
Speaking of all-terrain shenanigans, we noticed in between the turbine-styled central air vents reside three buttons that confirm the new generation will continue to hold its own in off-road with assistance from three differential locks. The modern looks come from the air conditioning and infotainment display and controls – still a matter of use with the console-mounted Comand controller. It seems the G Class is making sure everyone stays happy with an evolutionary design for the exterior and a revolutionary step up for the interior.
