A series of patent drawings have found their way onto the Internet, and the rumor mill is quick to ask itself if this is the long-awaited and discussed seven seat Jeep Wagoneer.
Jeep aficionados have been discussing the return of the flagship Grand Wagoneer for as long as we can remember, well actually ever since the model was retired back in 1991. We’ve seen the reports intensify in recent years, and there were even proofs scattered around that jeep is indeed preparing a larger SUV than the Grand Cherokee, either as a new model or as a reworked version. These new patent drawings seem to imply we’re getting closer and closer to the actual reveal time, and they are certainly offering us a raft of details. We thus have numerous angles with a large Jeep, packing enough space for even persons, and we’re hoping these are indicating the US brand is preparing such a vehicle in the near future.
The drawings are also here soon after the introduction of the Yuntu concept at the recent 2017 Auto Shanghai show, used to preview a possible new model, complete with hybrid powertrain. The details about the Grand Wagoneer remain a little mysterious – with reported engineering issues that have caused delays, and still no definitive answer if this will be a fully-fledged flagship model or a trim positioned above the Grand Cherokee.
