Ever since the advent of the first road model in the modern era of McLaren automobile making (we’re calling the F1 the classic from now on), the signature dihedral doors have been a staple.
Now it seems they will be carried to the next generation of the Super Series, which has been allegedly captured in a poor quality video during what looks like a customer preview event. The MP4-12C was the inaugural model in the Super Series, and can be seen in the video as well – alongside every model – right up to the 675LT Spider. The camera pans and shifts from one model to the other – and one of them particularly stands out as it’s surrounded by a crowd – the one in between the 12C Spider and 650S Spider. Most likely this is a closed event for certain lucky customers who get a preview ahead of the model’s introduction during the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.
The rumor mill has also managed to snatch an invitation for the North American VIP previews, taking place in Los Angeles and New York, with customers “able to pre-order ahead of the official launch in March.” Allegedly the new, second generation Super Series McLaren might be titled 720S as a nod to the installed power – exactly 720 PS coming from a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. For now, the only information officially revealed by the Woking-based automaker is that its all-new Super Series model will tip the scales at a very light 1,283 kilograms or 2,828 pounds.
