The beloved US competition features modified versions of the most popular sedans, so we’re pretty much sure that NASCAR spoiled the design of the upcoming 2018 Toyota Camry.
Someone was paying attention during a presentation with the drivers – which also had the new racer on point. And because we have an updated 2018 Toyota Camry quickly coming out, we’re taking this leak pretty serious. Of course, the NASCAR models use an “exaggerated” styling – also due to the aerodynamic enhancements – compared to the regular versions. But we can still extrapolate from this basis towards the road going vehicle, with the new design deploying aggressively arched, narrow headlights with L-shaped LEDs. The bigger lower grill has the same general shape but with harder edges that seem inspired from Lexus’ own spindle grille. And there are big intakes on each side as well.
The spy shots of the 2018 Camrys have shown a careful camouflage so it’s really hard to know which of the features for the NASCAR model will remain exclusive to the motorsports version. Toyota is also rumored to add new powertrains into the mix, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from certain Lexus models where it commands 235 horsepower in front-wheel drive vehicles such as the Camry. The model is also reported to deploy the new TNGA – ToyotaNew Global Architecture – for a significant increase of its fuel economy credentials.
