The Honda Civic just can’t stop bleeding patent images – the coupe version was also seen ahead of time in the same manner before its official introduction – and today we have the hatchback’s production series guise.
As with any leak, we should be taking these with a healthy dose of salt – but they do look official nonetheless. As such, we may be seeing here the production version of the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback. The Japanese automaker outed during the Geneva Motor Show, which concluded just a few days ago, the Civic Hatchback Prototype and the latter has been used as a preview of the production model that should come out next year. Take out the exciting bits of any concepts and we have these gray and black images. We can see the leaked patents use normal wheels and a toned down body styling that is less aggressive – it even lacks the front and back spoiler lips. The side skirts are also less prominent and at the back the double exhaust tips are nowhere to be seen while the rear windshield has received a useful wiper.
This might not be the production version still – rather an intermediate model – as the meshes on the bumpers are quite big and appear to have the same looks and size as on the prototype – meaning the production version could use smaller ones on the 2017 Civic hatchback. The model will be manufactured in Honda’s plant in Swindon, the United Kingdom. The production model will feature a newly developed 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, followed by a larger 1.5-liter already offered on the Civic Sedan and Coupe that can already be had in the United States.
