No, we haven’t jumped in time to January 15 when the official reveal for the all-new Mercedes G Class is scheduled – instead the world wide web has again managed to outwit the company and deliver early leaked photos with one of their most important models.
While it may look exactly the same at first glance, these photos do not depict the predecessor, and instead showcase the long-awaited W464 generation – the Geländewagen is certainly one of the few models in the world that won’t trouble anyone because it uses the exact same design as its predecessors. Somehow, official pics of the G Class have emerged onto a Chinese website, showcasing the vintage-flavored boxy shape in all its glory – the interior has already been officially previewed by Mercedes, along with most of the juicy technical details.
Naturally the leaked images have nothing to do with crystal clear resolution, but it’s still easy to see Mercedes won’t anger the traditional fans, as the evolutionary design is a perfect match to the legendary heritage of the G-wagen – a powerful off-roader that’s been around since 1979 looking mostly visually unchanged. Of course, all details and the official press pack will become available around the launch date, with the 2019 G-Class arriving in front of the worldwide audience of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
