There are virtually very few nameplates who get away with being the same – in terms of design and capabilities – over a very long period of time, with the Japanese Suzuki Jimny off-roader certainly a prime example.
Jimny’s current version has been on the market for years – and even the quickest test drive will reveal the age immediately – so the model is in dire need of a complete new generation rework. Fear not, because the Japanese automaker is ready to oblige – we have leaked pictures proving they’re wrapping up the development. What we also noticed is the automaker decided to keep the exact same theme – they’re not going to alienate the fan base for such a legendary model. The leaked official images snatched during a dealer presentation have now gone through the process of building up a higher-resolution and have also been rendered in color.
The box shape, complete with enough vintage elements to make any fan – regardless of age – feel right at home, has the same no-frills design that’s been a staple of the series throughout the years. Just like before, the Jimny isn’t going to disappoint on the off-road trail, using the company’s Allgrip Pro all-wheel drive system and low-range gearing – while rumors are also talking about the company deciding to retain the ladder frame construction.
