This is a double leak actually – because the all-new generation Touareg has been spotted completely uncovered sitting next to the equally new generation VW Polo subcompact.
Volkswagen’s third iteration of its luxury midsize SUV has relinquished all of its camouflage in this leak – and we’re thus pretty sure the company is gearing up for the official introduction. This means all the juicy details about the new arrivals will be arriving soon, too. Before that happens, here’s a spied, unaltered look of the Wolfsburg creation – ahead of the official world premiere of the all-new Touareg. The prototypes have been caught on camera at the O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa and we can see the entire new front in all its glory. It’s completely new, we’ll give them that, but it still keeps the air of familiarity – most of all because the front-end design is very close to the styling introduced with the recently introduced Arteon flagship sedan – mainly the connecting headlight-grille design.
Volkswagen also previewed the flagship SUV almost a year ago with the T-Prime Concept GTE, which also premiered the new face of the VW models in the higher-part of the lineup alongside the Arteon-announcing Sport Coupe Concept GTE. As far as we know details about the technical specs, the new Touareg will be underpinned by a modified VW Group MLB Evo architecture that is also in use with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, as well as upcoming Lamborghini Urus and the next Porsche Cayenne.
