Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus has released some additional information on the V8 petrol engine which is found under the hood of the RC F.
Some new details on the 5.0 liter V8 petrol burner, found under the hood of the Lexus RC F, have been recently released by the Japanese based automaker. The unit has a 4,969 cc displacement, with 32 valves, and this can be considered a true evolution compared to the engine found in the previous IS F. Most of the engine’s components are new, as the company is stating, and this include the cylinder heard, throttle body, intake, D-4S injection system, connecting rod, pistons, crankshaft, VVT-I valve timing and so on.
The V8 unit is using the new high strength forged connecting rods, the titanium inlet, exhaust valves and others. The total output of the unit has increased by 12 percent or 54 HP (40 kW) to a total of 471 HP (351 kW) and the peak torque is now standing in at 530 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque, available from 4,800 rpm to 5,600 rpm. The RC F is capable of accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds and it can reach an electronically limited top speed of 270 km/h (168 kW).
