Lexus reported solid March sales, with 20,140 units sold worldwide, from which 2,558 being the new GS.
The company managed to sell more new-style GS models in the first quarter of 2012, than its predecessor sold all of 2011.
“The new GS continues to exceed our expectations,” said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager.
The New GS 450h will further boost GS model sales for the rest of the year. Compared to the gas-only GS, the 2013 Lexus GS Hybrid offers all its luxury but adds more power and excellent fuel economy. Besides the gasoline engine and electric motor, the GS 450h also includes a generator.
The 3.5-liter V6, DOHC engine was adapted specifically for the hybrid powetrain and benefits from several technical improvements including the adoption of the Atkinson Cycle engine design to optimize the fuel-efficient benefits of Lexus Hybrid Drive. The new GS 450h hybrid will arrive into dealership showrooms this month
“This is an improved GS hybrid for sure, if not in pure drivability then in terms of interior quality, design and definitely handling due to the standard-issue adaptive suspension,” Edmunds writes.
