Chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt – these are among the ingredients used by the Huy Fong Foods company for its rather well known hot sauce.
We didn’t see any Lexus IS in the recipe – yet the Japanese automaker has decided for reasons known only to them to use the Sriracha sauce as the inspiration for a bespoke IS presented to the unsuspecting audience of the Los Angeles Auto Show. This unique and utterly quirky vehicle is the work of the aftermarket specialists from West Coast Customs (remember their MTV series?) and of course the main ingredient for the exterior has been the use of a unique “Sriracha Red” hue that also includes flecks of chili-like flakes in a bid to more closely stick to the original source.
The spindle grille’s frame has been adorned with green accents that can also be found on the brake calipers, mirror caps, and inside the cabin as a link to the sauce bottle’s green cap. Final touches include badges on the fenders, door wells, as well as at the back. “The new Lexus IS is so hot, we decided to make it Sriracha hot, with all the custom details every Sriracha fan will appreciate,” commented Brian Smith, Lexus vice president of marketing, with the company further mentioning the IS’ handling “is so hot, custom oven mitts are necessary.” Inside, the theme includes leather-wrapped seats with green accents and have embroidered Huy Fong rooster and Sriracha IS logos.
