The Japanese premium brand is looking to make the NX relevant again after almost three years on the market with a mid-life cycle refresh that is scheduled to become official in front of the worldwide audience of the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.
The Chinese event takes place in April and will have the “nimble, urban crossover” tweaked out on the outside and also on the inside to keep things fresh for customers. Lexus is not sharing too many details about the updated model, only revealing it will come with an enhanced exterior design and interior modifications that will bring “convenience and functionality” and will allow the model to meet “the needs of global luxury consumers.” The NX got a new perk at the Paris Motor Show last year – the Sport trim with 18-inch black alloy wheels, black door mirror housings, and a black finish for the grille.
The 2.0-liter turbo engine under the hood packs 235 horsepower (175 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet (359 newton-meter) of torque – but the Sport was only offered as a choice for European customers, not American or Chinese. The Auto Shanghai’s Lexus lineup will also feature the LS 500h which was first seen at the Geneva Motor Show in March, debuting in Asia with “a new level of technology and a heightened driving experience for a Lexus flagship sedan.”
