Lexus has released the first official photo of its new generation flagship sedan, the 2013 LS, ahead of its full media release scheduled for July 30.
Toyota’s luxury brand released the photo via Facebook and Twitter, following yesterday’s leaked photos.
The official photo shows the LS 460 F Sport, which has a sportier design, with heavy influences from the smaller GS saloon, especially the headlights and the spindle grille. The car has a more aggressive appearance, with larger air vents and creases around the bodywork. However, this is the F Sport package, so the standard car will most likely look a bit more restrained.
The similarities with the GS’ styling are also visible in the car’s profile, while at the rear end the LS sports tinted taillights and dual exhausts. The new LS is expected to use the same engines as the current model. The LS460 will get the 4.6-liter V8 with around 380 horsepower and a front- or all-wheel-drive layout. The range-topping LS600h Hybrid will be fitted with a 5.0-liter V8 plus two electric motors for a total output of 438 horsepower.
The 2013 LS will make its world debut on July 30 at a special event in San Francisco, with sales to begin later this year with four available trim levels.
