Lincoln sets the New York stage for the new generation Navigator image

We’re in for a literally big introduction at the upcoming 2017 New York Auto Show – Lincoln will take the wraps off its massive new generation Navigator flagship SUV.

The company is naturally preparing us with a teaser, depicting the larger than life SUV figure, complete with LED headlights and a design most likely inspired by the previewing concept. The Ford Motor Company premium division is not revealing anything else other than the shadowy figure, but we have plenty to go forward. Just like with the new Ford Expedition, there’s lots of aluminum in there, so the hulking SUV should actually tread lighter. You shouldn’t expect the Navigator concept’s gullwing doors for the new version, though.

The all-new Navigator will most likely feature older powertrain technology – such as the 3.5-liter biturbo V6, but perhaps with a bit more power than the current version. This one makes 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) and 460 pound-feet (634 Newton-meters) of torque. In addition, the company’s 10-speed automatic gearbox should be there to provide a whisker of added efficiency. The New York Auto Show is just about ready to kick off with the press preview days, so all information about the new Navigator should come in here pretty quickly, so keep tuned for more details.
