Long wheelbase Mercedes-Benz E-Class spotted in China

A long wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been recently spotted in China, where the model is expected to be launched over the following months.

After the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift, in the sedan and estate versions, has been officially unveiled just a few weeks ago, and with the E-Class Coupe and Cabrio being presented just days before writing this article, it seems that the German based automaker is planning to develop one more version of the upgraded E-Class. The model in question will be a long wheelbase variant and it might be aimed towards the Chinese auto market, because customers there are into cars with extra legroom in the cabin.

The long wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz E-is expected to come with a 1.8 liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 184 HP in the E200L version, with the same 1.8 liter turbocharged petrol but generating 204 HP in the E260L and with the 231 HP 3.0 liter V6 unit in the E200. The E400L will receive the 3.5 liter V6 unit, producing 333 HP and 490 Nm of torque. Additional details on the model are limited for the moment and will probably be announced close to the model’s launch.
