Lotus is planning to introduce a city car sometimes in 2015 which will rival the Aston Martin Cygnet and it will be priced at around 29.000 EUR.
According to the car manufacturer, the upcoming city car will be developed around a new super mini from Lotus’ parent company, Proton, which is scheduled to go on sale in early 2015. The journalists from autoexpress.co.uk are also saying that the upcoming city car will be priced at around 29.000 EUR. Even if the cost of the future Lotus model seems to be pretty high, the company’s officials are announcing that the vehicle will be either an EV or an extender EV, and rather than going after the small BMW and Audi models, the Lotus’ urban vehicle will offer high performance.
“There’s no point in trying to fight the Minis, and the small BMWs and the Audis unless you have a special offering. Our car will be an EV or extended EV and will offer performance of no other small car”, as the Lotus Boss Dany Bahar told autoexpress.co.uk.
The new urban vehicle will first be seen as a Proton model but the company’s official says that a switch to Lotus is easy and it can also justify the inflated price tag. Besides launching a new city car, Lotus is also planning to introduce a new Esprit at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
