Lotus is planning to revive Renault’s Alpine brand and, besides this, the company will also develop five different high-power models, along with a city car.
After experiencing some financial and management difficulties over the past months, Lotus seems to be back in business and, more than that, it will go way over its target and revive the Alpine brand owned by Renault. The two companies aren’t saying anything official on this subject for the moment but according to the guys at autocar.co.uk, Lotus will most likely revive the Alpine brand and, besides this, it will also develop five new models, along with a city car which will probably be a rival to models like the VW Up!, the Toyota Aygo, the Skoda Citigo or the Seat Mii.
No more details are being known on the revival of the Alpine brand for the moment but as a quick reminder, the latest vehicle to wear the Alpine logos on its body is the A110-50 Concept, which has been made in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the A100. The Renault Alpine A110-50 weighs just 880 kg and it’s coming with a 3.5 liter V6 engine which is producing 400 HP at 7,200 rpm and 422 Nm of torque.
