Our spy photographers have managed to capture the new Lotus Elise S Cup R road-going version while it was being tested out on the “Green Hell”.
The latest version of the Elise has been officially introduced by Lotus earlier this year and now the model has received a new variant, the road-legal Elise S Cup R. The model in question has been snapped while it was being tested out on the Nurburgring and we can see some differences between this and the track-only one, which includes the fully working headlights and taillights or the different grille, which is providing extra cooling for the engine on the track vehicle.
The Lotus Elise S Cup R, in its road-legal version, is carrying the same aerodynamic body kit, which includes the different side skirts, the rear wing, the rear diffuser or the front splitter. The model is also getting a hardtop, 17-inch forged alloy wheels and polycarbonate rear window. The interior design remains a mystery and we will just have to wait and see if it will carry the HANS compatible racing seats or the quick release steering wheel. The roll cage seems to be missing, however. No engine details are known either but the track model has a 1.8 liter four-cylinder supercharged unit under its hood, connected to a 6-speed manual transmission.
