Lotus has officially announced the production start of the new Evora 400 as the first example of the vehicle has rolled off the assembly line.
The first ever production version of the new Lotus Evora 400 has recently rolled off the production line in Hethel. The model in question will be used as a “promotion car” and it has received the metallic black exterior finish along with the red interior but if you are hoping for the first customer vehicles, production will commence shortly and the first deliveries will start this August.
“Today is a very significant stage in our long term plan, which we set-out more than a year ago. With the first Evora 400 coming off the line, we have achieved a key milestone for Lotus”, said Jean-Marc Gales, the Lotus CEO, in a statement.
The particular black finished Lotus Evora 400 has a 3.5 liter supercharged V6 engine under its hood, which is capable of producing a total output of 400 HP (298 kW) and it has a peak torque of 410 Nm (302 lb-ft). It is allowing the sports car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). The official starting price of the new Lotus Evora 400 has been set at 72,000 GBP in the United Kingdom and over-seas this will begin from 89,900 USD. Customers living in the U.S. and in China will have to wait until early 2016 to get their first deliveries.
