This is the third and probably last celebratory special editions that marks the company’s 50 years of production at the Hethel plant – with the Exige 350 now weighing just 2, 422 pounds (1, 099 kilograms).
The Norfolk-based automaker is again looking to draw our attention to their celebrations, this time around with the Exige 350 Special Edition that is again a tribute to the golden jubilee of Lotus’ Hethel factory. The company introduced earlier the sold-out Evora 400 Hethel Edition and Elise 250 Special Edition, so it’s now high time we got the Exige as well sorted to the list of upgrades. Just 50 units will be produced and the basis of the model is the Exige Sport 350. The automaker implemented numerous weight-saving measures, dropping the model’ by 57 pounds (26 kilograms) so as to tip the scales at just 2,422 lbs (1,099 kg).
There are new forged matte black wheels that shave off 11 lbs (5 kg) and have two-piece vented brake discs that have cut a further 11 lbs (5 kg). The new carbon seats are responsible for an additional 13 lbs (6 kg) of fat, while the lithium-ion battery has delivered a loss of 22 lbs (10 kg). Lotus only delivers the Exige 350 Special Edition with the six-speed manual gearbox and owners can select Dark Metallic Grey, Motorsport Black, Old English White, and Essex Blue paints.
