The new electric startup has recently presented the Air sedan, and now has decided to shed some light onto the pricing strategy following news of overpricing its first ever sedan.
Lucid has decided to clear out the waters after a bit of, “confusion regarding the price range.” It appears that on the press release the model used for show duties has been a “well-optioned Lucid Air,” leading to the confusion. They also announced the final price of the flagship model will be, “above $100,000,” but Lucid Motors also added there’s a base model kicking off at $60,000 ($52,500 after the $7,5000 federal tax credit) and still comes with “superior comfort, a better user interface, and better performance than comparably priced BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes.”
Details regarding this base model include a 240-mile range, 400 horsepower powertrain with RWD, and, “all hardware necessary for autonomous driving.” Options will include larger battery packs to reach the announced 400-mile range, AWD, as well as the two-motor powertrain with 1,000 hp. The Launch Edition trim will feature the 315-mile pack and 1,000 hp, and will be limited to 255 units. Getting this one needs a $25,000 deposit – or if you want a regular Air you can just fill the form for $2,500 right now.
