Startup Lucid Motors is working hard to bring to life its vision of zero emissions mobility, and the company didn’t lose the opportunity to grace the Monterey Car Week (August 16–20) with the presence of its still in development Air electric limousine.
Unfortunately, this update is going to be a tad short – since the firm hasn’t actually revealed what changes were made for the latest apparition, and as far as the eye can see, the design has been treated to a new two-tone color scheme. “The Lucid Air all-electric sedan combines forward-looking design with groundbreaking technology to establish an entirely new class of vehicle. Featuring full-size interior space in a mid-size exterior footprint, the autonomous-ready Air will be available with up to 400 miles of range and 1,000 horsepower,” reads the press release that accompanied the display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
What we do know is that – just like another interesting startup that is looking to bring to life its own vision of electric mobility (Faraday Future) – Lucid Motors is still actively searching for investors and, most importantly a place to build the Air electric sedan. This means there’s still a long way from actually becoming a real threat to Tesla – the company that for now commands the green sector. Naturally – with up to 400 miles of range and 1,000 horsepower, the Air won’t be cheaper than a competing Model S, so don’t make any ideas about seeing it being delivered in massive quantities any time soon.
