Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra, a subsidiary of Mahindra Group, has annouced it sold 42,761 vehicles in December 2011, accounting for an increase of 26 percent compared to December 2010, when 34,062 units were sold.
Of the total number of vehicles sold in December, 39,891 units were registered in India, an increase of 23 percent over 32,546 units during December 2010. The 4-wheeler commercial segment, which includes the passenger and load categories, has registered a growth of 35 percent, with 13,757 units sold by Mahindra during December 2011.
According to Rajesh Jejurikar, the CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra’s automotive division, said the company is delighted with the 26 percent rise in sales in December, thanks to the all round performance of all its brands. Mahindra Group is a $14.4 billion multinational company based in Mumbai, India, which employs more than 144,000 people in over 100 countries. A 4×4 specialist, the Indian automaker bought South Korean SUV maker SsangYong in 2010.
