Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova signed a three-year endorsement deal with sports car maker Porsche.
Maria Sharapova will represent the German automaker in a worldwide ad campaign. The star has been the image of many worldwide brands and products varying from Canon digital cameras to breathtaking Tiffany jewelry. The tennis superstar has previously modeled for Land Rover when it unveiled the Freelander 2, also signing a three-year deal with the company in 2006.
“Maria Sharapova is an exceptional athlete. She combines top performance in her sports with elegance and power. These are precisely the qualities that are embroiled in our sports cars,” Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller said in a statement.
The 26-year-old Porsche brand ambassador is no stranger to the automaker’s car, as last year Sharapova not only took home the money prize as the winner of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, but also a white 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. By choosing Maria Sharapova, Porsche once again proves its commitment to women’s tennis.
“This is a really special day for me,” said Sharapova. “I have had the privilege to be associated with some of the best brands in the world, but now to be partners with Porsche, is such an amazing honor,” she explained during her presentation in Stuttgart.
