General Motors hired Mark Barnes as the company’s top sales executive in China and other foreign markets.
Previously Brnes was first vice president of customer experience for Volkswagen of America, VW’s COO, then director of Chrysler’s U.S. and vice president of national sales at Hyundai North America. Now GM hired him as its vice president of sales, marketing and aftersales for the international operations including countries such as Australia, China, India, the Middle East and several others.
“Mark is an automotive industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience. He has broad industry experience and we are fortunate to have him joining our GMIO team,” said Tim Lee, president of GM’s international operations.
Susan Docherty, now managing director of Chevrolet Europe since January, was the previous GM’s vice president of sales. Barnes will be located in Shanghai, at the company’s international operations headquarters. He will join GM on May 15th.
Volkwagen declared that while the company looks after a new vice president, Rawdon Glover, executive vice president of group after sales, will perform Barnes’ duties.
