Mark your calendars: Furious 8 will debut on 14 April 2017 image

Many people believed that the latest Fast and Furious film would be the last in the series because of Paul Walker’s tragic death, but the matter of the fact is that the franchise will go on without one of its lead actors, as the news was confirmed by no one other than Vin Diesel at CinemaCon.

All the fans out there can hold their breath – or healthily not – as the date for the 8th movie in the series has been revealed: it’s the 14th of April, 2017, folks!
While not major details were revealed, the movie story will be set in New York and it will be the first in a new trilogy. Yes, you heard trilogy right. Vin Diesel said on Jimmy Kimmel Live that “You know these films, I think of them in advance, I think of them as trilogies. So just some cool stuff that not everybody knows.”

The Furious 7 movie made $143 million at the box office only during its first week opening in the U.S. and also became Universal Pictures’ first movie to make $1 billion in 17 days, a world record that dethroned Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which managed to do that in 19 days.
Furious 7 also became China’s highest-grossing movies of all time, bringing in $323 million, more than the $319 million made by Transformers: Age of Extinction. The movie is also holding strong in North America, taking the number one spot since its release at the beginning of April. After 24 days in theaters, Furious 7 is $100 ahead of the box-office pace that was set by Fast & Furious 6.
