The first ever rendering with the Maserati Ghibli Coupe has just hit the web and it might provide us with a first look into a possible production version of the BMW 5-Series killer.
The Italian based automaker Maserati has unveiled the new Ghibli just a few months ago and it didn’t announced its plans to introduce a coupe version of the baby Quattroporte, but considering the fact that Mercedes-Benz is offering the E-Class Coupe and BMW has the 6-Series, a two-door version of the Maserati Quattroporte doesn’t sound like science fiction. And we must admit that the model looks very appealing.
As a quick reminder, the Maserati Ghibli is the first ever model produced by the company which received a diesel engine. The unit has been co-developed with a former Ferrari chief motorist, Paolo Martinelli, and it’s coming as a 3.0L turbocharged V6, which is producing 275 HP (202 kW) and 600 Nm of torque (443 lb-ft). The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 6.3 seconds and the model is burning an average of 6.0L / 100km of fuel (47 mpg UK / 39.2 mpg US), and it’s emitting 160 g/km of CO2. The model is also getting a 330 HP and 500 Nm of torque 3.0 liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine. Both versions are mated to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
