Maserati has announced its plans to introduce its newest model, the Ghibli, to the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
The Maserati Ghibli has already been spied, it has leaked and it has been officially unveiled, and the only thing left for the Italian based automaker to do is to officially present it to the public. The action will take place in a couple of days, in one of the biggest automotive events of the year in Asia, the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The Maserati Ghibli is a more compact, sportier, smaller and cheaper alternative to the new Quattroporte generation, and the model is also based on a smaller platform than the one used on the four-door coupe.
The newest Maserati model, the Ghibli, will become available to its future customers with a choice of two 3.0 liter V6 turbocharged engines and, for the first time in the carmaker’s history, with a diesel engine, which is going to have the same 3.0 liter displacement in a V6. Maserati says that the three engines will get a single eight-speed automatic transmission and power will be sent to the rear-wheel drive. The Q4 all-wheel drive system will be offered as an option. The plan is to sell 50,000 Maserati cars by 2014 and the Ghibli will play a main role in this.
