Maserati has released new official images with the Ghibli sedan, ahead of its public debut scheduled for the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
After it has leaked just a day before writing this article, the brand new Maserati Ghibli is now being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the Italian based automaker releasing new official images with the model. The Maserati Ghibli is a more compact, sportier and eventually cheaper alternative to the Quattroporter and the model is also based on a smaller platform than the one used on the four-door coupe. Several underpinning are also shared with the bigger brother.
Maserati says that the Ghibli will become available with a choice of two 3.0 liter V6 turbocharged engine and, for the first time in the company’s history, with a diesel engine, which will get the same 3.0 liter V6 output. The three units will be mated to a single eight-speed automatic transmission, which will send power to the rear-wheel drive or to the optional Q4 all-wheel drive system. Maserati is part of the company’s plans to sell 50,000 cars annually by 2014. Additional details on the Maserati Ghibli will be announced during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, on the 20th of April.
