The Maserati GranCabrio will not be coming with a replacement based on the next generation of the GranTurismo.
Just a day ago, we were telling you that the Maserati GranTurismo is close to receiving a replacement but it seems that the same treatment will not be applied to the GranCabrio, as the drop-top will not be getting a successor. According to a recent report, the Maserati GranCabrio will be axed after the current generation as the future model will only focus on the fixed-roof variant. Maserati will not remain without a two-door convertible however as the Alfieri Spider is being planned.
The initial report was announcing a replacement for the Maserati GranTurismo for the end of 2017. This has been confirmed by a company official and it seems that the new generation of the model will be coming with a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine, rated at more than 550 HP (410 kW), put to the ground through the rear wheels. The current version of the sports car has a choice of a 4.2 liter V8 or a 4.7 liter V8, connected to a semi automatic or a 6-speed automatic signed by ZF, and it has been in production since 2007.
