Maserati Levante SUV spied image

Maserati is currently testing out its upcoming Levante SUV as the model in question has been caught on camera recently, by our spy photographers.

After we have shown you the brand new Jaguar F-Pace SUV, time has come to talk about another luxury cruiser in the segment, the Levante. The model in question will be the company’s first ever SUV and it has been spied recently in Northern Scandinavia, hiding its mechanical bits under the hood of the Ghibli, which is basically suggesting that it will be based on the popular entry-level sedan.

We cannot compare the Maserati Levante with the Bentley SUV or with the Rolls-Royce SUV but considering the fact that it will most likely be based on the Ghibli, than we can say that it will go on sale against the Jaguar F-Pace, the BMW X3, the Mercedes GLK, the Audi Q5 and other vehicles in the segment. Another idea is that the Italian based automaker will be stretching the platform of the Quattroporte in order to create the final production version of the Levante and this might even borrow the architecture of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Maserati Levante is expected to get at least three engine choices, possibly in multiple stages of tune, and the petrol side will include a twin turbo V8 with 560 HP and a twin turbo V6, with 350 HP or 425 HP, while the diesels will include three V6s, with 250 HP, 275 HP and 340 HP. The Levante will be put together at the Mirafiori plant, in Italy, More details on it are limited for the moment.
