Maserati has recently announced that the new Quattroporte generation has recently received a diesel engine, which should make it more popular with new luxury car buyers.
The new generation of the Maserati Quattroporte has recently become the company’s second model to receive a diesel engine, after its smaller brother, the Ghibli, is currently taking its power from such a unit, in the base entry-level version. According to the car manufacturer, the 2014 Maserati Quattroporte diesel is the perfect choice for a car which can be driven by a chauffeur, considering the fact that the fuel bills will be significantly improved.
The diesel engine to power the new generation of the Maserati Quattroporte will be the 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel, provided by VM Motori. Maserati says that this unit will become available in two outputs, with the most powerful one getting 271 HP and 600 Nm of torque, and it will become available across the Old Continent. The model in question will be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds and it can reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The average fuel consumption in the model will stand at 6.2L / 100km. More details on the model will be announced during its launch.
