These were probably the thoughts of designer Andrea Ortile, which is why he envisioned back home in Italy the stunning Maserati MC-63 hypercar concept that is based off the Ferrari LaFerrari.
The concept has the technical base of the Ferrari LaFerrari but the design has been inspired by the legendary Tipo 63 Birdcage race car of Le Mans. “The design is inspired by the famous race car the 1961 Maserati Tipo 63 Birdcage, ” comments the designer. “The elegance and the sport of the Italian brand live together in this car.” The lines show striking similarities to the LaFerrari but in tone with the Maserati heritage there’s much more elegance than brute force. For example, the “roof is a constant curved line which links the front to the rear,” says its designer, “and the wheel arches are soft and rounded.”
The front has the iconic Maserati grille front and center while the stylish, sleek headlights and sloped grille is inspired by the Alfieri concept. The MC-63 back is a different story – rounded boot and ultra thin taillights go in line with the carbon fiber diffuser and dual exhaust tips, as well as an F1-style rear brake/fog light. We can also assume the 949-horsepower (707-kilowatt) hybrid setup found on the LaFerrari breaths internally.
