Maserati teases the Levante SUV prior to Geneva Motor Show introduction image

The Italian luxury automaker has recently introduced a teaser image depicting the Levante SUV that will see the light of day in front of the worldwide audience early march during the 86th edition of the Geneva Motor Show.

The teaser is a confirmation to the patent designs that leaked way back in June last year and we’re expecting a sporty front end with an aggressive take on the design: massive hexagonal grille linked to the stylish headlights featuring daytime running LEDs. We only see the front end of the car depicted here but the spy photographers have caught the model out in the open on several occasions and we know the Levante will sport an almost coupe-like profile a la BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe – but we’re hoping the lessons have been learned and rear headroom will remain within accessible limits.

The Levante sport utility vehicle is expected to receive an array of biturbo V6 and V8 engines taken from the Quattroporte, although they might get slightly tweaked for a different output. Of course Maserati’s first crossover will also get the company’s proprietary Q4 all-wheel drive system and a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. We’re expecting to see the Levante in the metal during the Geneva Motor Show and possibly Maserati will spill the beans a little earlier through an online reveal in order to steal the spotlight.
