Maserati is planning to develop a supercar based on the brand new LaFerrari, which is expected to make its way onto the market sometimes in 2015.
The Italian based automaker Maserati has big plans for its future models and one of these plans includes a LaFerrari based supercar which is expected to be unveiled sometimes in 2015. The new Maserati supercar will be lighter than the LaFerrari and it won’t get any hybrid features under its hood because the carmaker will focus on the 6.3 liter V12 engine from the LaFerrari / F12 Berlinetta or on the 3.8 liter quad-turbo V8, used on the Quattroporte.
The Maserati supercar will come with carbon fiber body panels and it will be a two-seater vehicle, borrowing some electrical systems, suspension and chassis from the Ferrari LaFerrari. Additional details on the Maserati supercar are limited for the moment but as a quick reminder the LaFerrari, has been officially unveiled a couple of weeks ago during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The hybrid supercar has a 6,2L V10 engine, with 800 HP and 700 Nm of torque, and an electric motor with 163 HP and 270 Nm of torque. The total output produced is 963 HP and the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is done in less than 3 seconds.
