Mazda has recently announced that the CX-5 midsize crossover has been launched in Malaysia, where the model has a starting price of RM155, 219 for the Skyactiv-G 2WD version.

The Japanese based automaker is saying that the Mazda CX-5 is available only with the Skyactiv-G in Malaysia for the moment, which means that the midsize crossover is being powered by a 2.0 liter direct injection petrol engine which is developing a total output of 152 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 198 Nm of torque available at 4,000 rpm in the all-wheel drive version, while the two-wheel drive is coming with 153 HP at the same 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The unit is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Mazda says that the Skyactiv-G has 30 percent less mechanical resistance and is 10 percent lighter compared to the company’s current engine and this is “transformed” into 15% better fuel economy, 15% lower carbon emissions and 15% greater torque output. The Skyactiv-G in the Mazda CX-5 needs only 6.0 liters of fuel every 100 km for the 2WD version in a combined cycle, while the AWD is burning 7.3 liters of fuel every 100 km. Prices for the 2WD start at RM155,219 while the AWD version is being offered from RM165,219.
