Due to increase in price of fuel, the Australian division of Mazda has decided to offer a CX-9 crossover front-wheel drive version which is available in two different choices of trim levels – Classic and Luxury.
The Front wheel drive CX-9 boasts a similar 3.7-liter V6 engine that successfully produces 204 kW which sets at 274 horsepower, and 367 Nm. The engine is combined to a six-speed Activematic transmission. The major change in the model is its fuel consumption with the front wheel drive version that delivers 11.0 liter / 100 km than what it used to consume earlier – 11.21 liter / 100 km. Well, this might seem no big change to many in the lively Australia. However, the company has also cut down the price of this car to draw attentions.
By losing two powered wheels, Mazda is then able to bring down the price of CX-9 by less than AUD4, 500 as compared to what it had offered earlier. This front-wheel drive version is the new entry-level model and its pricing starts from AUD44,425 (US$46,731). Standard features of the Mazda CX-9 front-wheel drive model are a cruise control, auto headlamps, three-zone climate control, leather trimmed steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, gearshift knob, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
If you go for Luxury model which is available at a price tag of AUD51,725, then the features you’ll get are a power-sliding and tilt glass sunroof, power adjustable leather seats with three-position memory function, a premium Bose audio system fitted with 10 speakers, heated power mirrors with three-position memory and reverse tilt-down function, and 20-inch alloys.
Besides, all the models in Australia will be available with six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Stability controls (DSC), Roll Stability Control (RSC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and a reversing camera as standard.
