Mazda MX-5 gets upgraded by BBR image

The British aftermarket specialists at BBR have recently pulled the wraps off their latest creation, a new upgrade package for the Mazda MX-5.

According to the tuning company, the Mazda MX-5 in question has been fitted with the Super 180 upgrade for the 2.9i Mazda MK3 and for the MK3.5 MX-5, which is adding features like the high-flow metallic sports cat, center silencer, stainless steel exhaust manifold, StarChip ECU remapping, 2.5-inch stainless steel exhaust manifold center section, stainless steel rear silencer with 3.5-inch tailpipes which are adjustable and with a high-flow performance panel air filter.

Designed to meet the demand for a lower cost engine upgrade that delivers extra response, power, driveability and excitement, the BBR ‘Super 180’ package produces a substantial performance increase at a more readily affordable price than BBR’s awesome MX-5 supercharger upgrades”, according to the tuner’s press release.

Thanks to all of these new components, the Mazda MX-5 in question, modified by BBR, is getting a total output of 180 BHP (134 kW), compared to the previous 158BHP (117 kW) and the torque figure has also gone up by 27 Nm (20 lb-ft) to 215 Nm (159 lb-ft), at 4,250 rpm, 750 rpm lower than the standard Mazda MX-5. Prices for these upgrades have been set at 1,995 GBP, VAT excluded.
