The Japanese based automaker Mazda is planning to develop a new model in the shape of a premium supermini to go on sale against models
like the DS3 or the MINI.
Rumors regarding a new possible Mazda model slotted below the Mazda2 have appeared a few months ago and they managed to stay secret until now, when the vehicle is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with new rumors. The carmaker is apparently trying to enter the supermini segment on the Old Continent and in other similar markets with a new supermini model which will go against other popular vehicles developed by the competition.
Rumor has it that the new Mazda model will go against the MINI, the Citroen DS3 and even the new entry into the segment, the Opel / Vauxhall Adam. An upmarket city car might be developed using the 2008 Kiyora concept, but no details have been released just yet. Unfortunately we don’t know anything more on the upcoming supermini signed by Mazda but the Japanese based automaker might pull a surprise on all of us and unveil it sometimes next year, during a major international auto show.
