McLaren has made a plan which says that every year it is going to introduce a new product. And to continue the yearly introduction process, it will either make a new model or a new derivative.
This time, the British supercar maker is in plans to offer a road-going variant of non other than its own GT3 racer. To compete with the others in the segment, McLaren’s attempt is to bring a limited edition on streets with just 20 units of the MP4-12C GT3 racer.
This might be a sort of experimentation with 20 units which the company would sell for $512,000/€345,000. As per the Inside Line, the Managing Director of McLaren, Antony Sheriff has said that the automaker won’t over-egg this model like Porsche does basically with all its variants of 911. However as per the report, one thing is clear that a road-going variant is now in pipeline and will soon hit its considered target. Tough about the power of this new variant is still undercover, but the company has recently announced MP4-12C GT3 racer’s specifications which say that the car will get 100 less horses as compared to what the standard model offers that is 500 PS/368 kW.
If you consider the standard MP4-12C, it has got 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 600 PS (441 kW/592 bhp), combining the torque at 600 Nm (443 lb-ft). The car can easily make 3.3 seconds’ sprint at 0-100 km/h i.e. 62 mph and can make 3.1 seconds if special Corsa racing tires are added. Besides, it can accomplish 0-200 km/h i.e. 124 mph sprint in just 9.1 seconds and 8.9 seconds with the Corsa tires. Overall, the car can provide a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).
