McLaren has announced its plans to offer the new 540C and the 570S in Australia, from the beginning of 2016.
According to the car manufacturer, the most affordable McLaren ever made, the 540C, will have a starting price of 350,000 AUD while for the more powerful 570S, Australians will have to pay 408,000 AUD, plus on-road costs. The two models are part of the Sports Series range and they are smaller, less powerful and cheaper than the Super Series range vehicles, the 650S and the 650LT. The McLaren 540C is 4,530 mm long, 2,095 mm wide and 1,202 mm tall, with a dry weight of 1,311 kg.
It has a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine under its hood, with 397 HP and 540 Nm of torque, connected to a 7-speed transmission. It needs 3.5s to reach 100 km/h and it can go up to 320 km/h. The McLaren 570S on the other hand has the same dimensions as the 540C, but its dry weight is 1,313 kg. The same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine is found under its hood, producing this time 420 HP and 600 Nm of torque. These are being sent to the RWD through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes just 3.2 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h it needs 9.5 seconds. Top speed stands at 328 km/h.
