McLaren is apparently planning the introduction of a third model to its Sports Series, the 570S Spider.
If you thought that development of the Sports Series range signed by McLaren is done, you will be surprised to find out that the company is actually planning on adding a third model to the range: the 570S. This will stand beside the 540C and the 570S and it should be introduced sometimes in 2017. The announcement hasn’t been made official at this point, but according to CarAdvice, who has spoken to Wayne Bruce, the McLaren Global Communications Director, this version is close to hitting the assembly line.
If you have no clue on what this new sports car will be like, don’t worry, because it’s pretty easy to imagine a McLaren 570S with a chopped roof. Chances are it will be getting a foldable hardtop and some added weight, while the rest of the design will remain unchanged to the one of its solid roof brother. The same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine will be offered under its hood as well, in the same output as the one from the 570S. This basically means 570 HP (419 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), this will need approximately 3.4 – 3.5 seconds and it should hit a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph). More details on the upcoming McLaren 570S Spider are limited at the moment.
