McLaren has brought a brand new 650S Spider at the Need for Speed gala in Hong Kong, where the model has also made its local debut.
Originally unveiled just last week, during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the new McLaren 650S Spider is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the company bringing it to Hong Kong. According to its creators, the new British supercar has been shown off at the Need for Speed gala. Even if the new movie has received some terrible reviews, the cars used in it should be enough to make you watch it.
The McLaren 650S Spider has a carbon fiber MonoCell chassis which didn’t require any strengthening and weight penalty. It weighs just 40 kg (88 pounds) more than its solid roof brother and it has received some carbon ceramic brakes, lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and a roof which can raise at speeds up to 30 km/h (19 mph) in 17 seconds. Power is provided by a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine, which is rated at 651 HP (478 kW) and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. This is enough for a 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) sprint made in 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 328 km/h (204 mph).
