A special Track version of the McLaren P1 hybrid supercar is currently considered by the British based automaker.
Several rumors on Ferrari working on a hotter version of the LaFerrari, the XX, have appeared several weeks ago and since the McLaren P1 is one of its main competitors, the company couldn’t stay away from this battle and it seems that it will also develop a hot version of the P1 hypercar. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to the guys at Autocar, the carmaker has communicated with the 375 owners of the P1, asking them if they are interested in a more focused and track-only version of the P1.
The answer was relatively positive and so McLaren will most likely offer a hotter version of the P1. The model in question is believed to be named the “Track” and it will go on against the Ferrari LaFerrari XX, with its more extreme body work, which will differentiate it from the standard P1, along with the upgrade suspension system and more power and torque from the petrol electric hybrid drivetrain. The current P1 has a total of 903 HP and 978 Nm of torque from a 3.8 liter V8 twin turbo petrol engine and an electric motor. This is translated into a 0 to 100 km/h sprint made in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).
